Growing up in Kansas, tornados, rainbows and The Wizard of Oz were icons of my youth. I spent my fair share of time riding out the tornado sirens in the basement and saw plenty of rainbows. On rare occasions, there were even double rainbows after the storms!Â
Â
I sometimes stop and wonder if all of those rainbows are where I developed my love of color-coding my organization or if it truly is how my brain thinks. I will use everything from a traditional rainbow pattern to an ombre pattern of color when setting up my color coding.
Â
I also learned how vital a solid infrastructure can be. Even though mother nature could be brutal and destructive, it was the solid foundation that withstood her tests.
Â
Module 2 is available in your library this week, and it’s all about creating a color-coded file system to develop that strong infrastructure in your inbox.Â
Â
It may feel overwhelming to try and figure out exactly how to build that foundation. Some of you may be able to see it right away, and for others, you may need to map it out on paper first. That’s ok...map out the system in a way that makes the most sense for YOU! And if that means lots of colorful Post-It notes on your wall,
then GO FOR IT!!
Â
The important part here is that the system has to work for you to be efficient. If you feel stuck with how to group your folders or categorize emails, jump over to the Facebook group, and reach out to your classmates there! That’s what the group is for, to
support each other and to get your questions answered!
Â
Happy Color Coding, My Friends!
